Hot-Cathode Fluorescent Lamps

LCDL manufactures hot cathode fluorescent lamps (HCFL) and cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) for a wide variety of commercial and industrial processes.  HCFL lamps contain a filament and can be found in lighting applications such as copy machines, scanners and vision systems. The HCFL product line offered by LCDL includes tubular lamp products with various diameters and lengths.  The smallest size of these high performing HCFL lamps begin with T2, where T represents the shape of the lamp as tubular and the number 2 represents an eighth of an inch, therefore a T8 lamp is the same as 8/8 or exactly 1 inch in diameter.   The largest size produced by LCDL is a T12 which equates to a 1 ½ “diameter.   Our superior HCFL lamps are also used in graphic arts, signs and medical devices.

Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lamps

LCDL’s miniature CCFL lamps are typically used in a variety of neon signs in bendable shapes, and use an electrode rather than a filament.    Mini fluorescent lamps are often used as accent lighting or back lighting in avionic displays, military applications, computers, vehicles and the NASA space shuttle.

Both the HCFL and CCFL lamps use mercury vapor that enhances the phosphor coating promoting extraordinary lighting for a pleasing visible light.  LightSources and LCDL have a wide selection of standard miniature lamps or we will customize a solution specific to our customer’s specifications.

The term OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. When you stop to think about the number of items that us multi-tasking humans use during any given day, you would realize that for every physical item you hold in your hand, there were probably several OEM’s contributing parts for the finished product. Whether it’s a cell phone, a laptop or tablet, or a flashlight – Manufacturing is big business.

Every industry has large corporations in their supply chain, but it’s the contribution of small businesses (defined as a business with less than 500 employees) that is the lifeblood of the US Economy. Highest-quality Aperture Lamps

8.31.15 2

While aperture lamps are similar in construction to internal reflector fluorescent lamps, the major difference is that an aperture reflector covers a larger portion of the circumference and has a clear window in the coating for the light to come through. This 30 or 60 degree clear glass opening is called the aperture and does not contain any phosphor. It concentrates the light in one direction in order to provide a higher intensity or brightness.

The reflective coating of an aperture lamp is 330 or 300 degrees and the phosphor coating covers just that area of the lamp. Since the intensity of the light increases with a decreasing aperture width, it is important to consider the size of the aperture surface. With our advanced precision technology, we can produce lamps with an aperture width as small as 2 millimeters wide.

While aperture lamps are used in applications such as scanners and imaging machines, a popular new use for aperture fluorescent lamps is for edge lighting in signs and displays. Since aperture lamps are inherently uniform along the lamp’s length, the smaller diameter lamps allow edge lit signs to be built efficiently and significantly brighter as well as slenderer. They also do not create annoying light bands.

At LCD Lighting we are the foremost designer and manufacturer of both standard and custom aperture and reflector lamps. Our products are made from the highest-quality material and used in applications such as scanners, copiers, facsimile machines, machine vision, sorting equipment for production lines and other imaging devices. In addition we specialize in avionic display backlighting and manufacture a wide range of specialty fluorescent lighting. Our portfolio includes cold and hot cathode fluorescent lamps CCFL / HCFL, backlight lamps and assemblies, aperture and reflector lamps, compact lamps, sub miniature lamps and HID‐MPUV lamps.

The LightSources group represents the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today. Our standard lamps and components as well as customized products offer high-quality solutions to meet our partner’s unique needs. Germicidal UVC Lamps: Prevent Food/Water Poisoning & Death due to Food/Water Bacteria and Parasites

Whether we all know it or not, we are surrounded by bacteria and parasites (E-Coli, Salmonella, etc).  From the surfaces we touch right down to the food we eat, bacteria are all around us.  To prevent the spread of disease and illness, UVC germicidal lamps are being used in equipment to effectively kill many of the common viruses, bacteria and parasites that we come in contact with on a daily basis. Ultraviolet (UVC) light destroys microorganisms by damaging the DNA structure.  UVC radiation disrupts the chemical bonds that hold strands of DNA together in a microorganism; therefore the organism cannot reproduce and grow — so it dies!

When used in a water application, UVC germicidal lamps irradiate the water passing through a vessel which contains a Quartz Sleeve with a UVC germicidal lamp in side.  Water treatment units are designed with flow rates that sterilize water at 1 gallon per minute up to thousands of gallons per minute.  UVC does not alter the pH, odor or color of the water as does the use of chemicals (i.e., chlorine, peroxide, etc.) to purify water so there is no change in the taste of the water.  This water can then be “safely” used in various applications ranging from drinking water to food preparation to the beverage bottling.

UVC germicidal lamps are also used by numerous food processing companies to kill bacteria throughout the food preparation lines.   Fruits, vegetables and meat are placed on conveyor systems and are UVC irradiated as it is being processed.  Immediately prior to packaging, exposure to UVC has been proven to extend the shelf life of fruits, vegetables meats and breads.  Food processing plants are using UVC germicidal lamps in their HVAC systems to kill air-borne particles that exist in the processing rooms. The equipment used to process the food is also irradiated with germicidal UVC to kill any microorganisms that may exist on the surface.

So, introducing UVC germicidal lamp technology into your air, water and surface treatment procedures will significantly reduce or totally eliminate virus, bacteria and parasites that are the cause of much illness and even death!
